These eleven lines are regarded as the preface of the book. The entire book is designed for those who want to get success in the next world. One has to prepare himself to obtain this goal. First step is to make his inner feelings and thoughts clear of any kind of dirts and the vices. The easiest way to do so is to adopt one of the pious Muslim(Sheikh) as his master, and obey his commands and rulings.

Here comes the complexity of such a way. As per Islamic belief only prophets are infallibles. Without doubt the prophet Muhammad (S.A.S) is infallible and unerring. Then only way is to discover a sheikh who strictly follows the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.S) and apply his Sharia’ in his life.

One who is veteran in sharia’ is called faqeeh, or jurist. Hundreds of books compiled explaining different aspects of fiqh. Four major schools of thought formed thorough out Islamic history with the name ‘Mad-hab’. They are Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, and Hanbali. Detailed study of Mad-hab is the beyond scope of this book.

According to author, only faqeeh(jurist) is entitled to be a sheikh. His knowledge of fiqh should be applied practically in his life. Tariqah means to get some easy way to enforce and apply the knowledge of fiqh in his life. Eventually he may reach Haqiqah, the core of tasawwuf. One of the major misconceptions about tariqah is that it is the short cut to the way of Allah, without the care of Sharia’. In fact, tariqah is the short cut way to apply sharia in the practical life.

What is tariqah? Popular thought is that it is following a sheikh and obeying his rules and commands. The author comes with different thought. Tariqah may be educating people, serving them, increasing prayer and fasting and so on.

Haqiqah is not easy to catch. If the hard work is the pre-requisite of tariqah, the special care and tawfeeq from Allah is the prerequisite of Haqiqah. It is hard to dive in the sea and discover pearl in the depth, yet all the experts in diving may not find the pearl.

Before entering into the core of the book, the author clarifies that what he is going to explain is the way of awliya, the saints of Islam who attained the rank of wilayh. One who wants to obtain this rank should be careful of these following instructions.

Ms Booth, who works for the Iranian state news channel Press TV, said she decided to become a Muslim after being overwhelmed during a visit to a shrine in the city of Qom, Iran.

“I felt this shot of spiritual morphine: just absolute bliss and joy,” she said. When she returned to Britain six weeks ago, she decided to convert. “Now I don’t eat pork, and read the Koran every day,” she said.

She is now on page 60. Though women in the public eye are generally not shy of a religious conversion (Demi Moore, Kabbalah; Tina Turner, Buddhism), Islam is rarely their go-to faith. For Catherine Heseltine, CEO of MPACUK which was set up to address a perceived under-representation of Muslims in British politics, and herself a convert, this is not hugely surprising.

She said: “Islam requires women to cover their hair and hide the shape of the body. If you think of the areas where women typically achieve a high profile – singing, acting, modelling – these things tend not to be compatible with these requirements.

“Converting to Islam is a different proposition for women than from men. They are instantly asked: ‘Why do you want to be oppressed?’ There have been problems in the Muslim community with sexism, but these are attributable to culture, rather than religion itself and the two have become very mixed-up in the public’s perception.”

But the shortage of Islamic women converts in the public eye in fact conceals a trend in the public at large that is in the very opposite. Sheikh Imam Ibrahim Mogra from Leicester said: “I receive many more inquiries from women. It is quite surprising, given the negative publicity in terms of the mistreatment of women. But women say it was all the negative things that first stimulated their interest.”

Though the group she joins as woman convert is small, it is a vocal one. Ms Booth’s colleague at Press TV, former war correspondent Yvonne Ridley, converted to Islam in 2003 after being captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

There is of course one challenging liturgical requirement. Ms Booth said: “I haven’t had a drink in 45 days,” she said. “And I was someone who craved a glass of wine or two.”

فَلْيَحْفَظَنْ هَذَا الوَصَايَا عَامِلاَ

Every waliyy has his own way to adopt tariqah. It is not restricted to reciting some kind of dikr or following a specific Sheikh. There are many ways to follow; some people prefer a way while some other people prefer another way. The author provided us with some of the popular examples.

1.  The first example given here is to work as an instructor, teacher, lecturer or in any kind of educational field giving clear instructions to the way of Allah along with controlling his movements and activities.

2. Second example is engaging himself in the worship of Allah like performing Salah (prayer) or Sawm (fasting). He has to do them in large quantity.

3. The third example is serving the people. The word people indicates to religious scholars and sufis.(Ref: Hidaytul Azkiya)

4. The forth example is working hard to earn some money for feeding the poor and destitute. He carries the wood from the forest to make firewood and sells it in the market. Then he spends in charity the money he earned

Social viewpoint of Islam is clear and obvious, it announced categorically that every Muslim is responsible of his act, everyone has his own sphere of governance and he should be careful of his people. No one can escape from it. Automatically responsibility fall upon a Muslim once he reaches puberty.

In one of the popular sayings of prophet (S.A.S) narrated by both Bukhari and Muslim that says:

“Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler of the people is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. A man is the shepherd of his household and is responsible for his flock. A woman is the shepherd of her husband’s house and children and is responsible for her flock. The slave is the shepherd of his master’s wealth and is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock.”

Now tell me… who is exempted from the responsibility? Every one – from the president of a nation to layman of a village – is ‘shepherded’ one the one hand, at the same on the other hand he is counted in the ‘flock’. No one can sit the home and say ‘I’m no more responsible for any one, I’m free…’ Responsibility always surround on the neck of a Muslim!

One of the major responsibilities of a Muslim is to learn. To be a Muslim, he should learn certain things otherwise no more counted as Muslim. Learning, according to Islamic point of view, is an endless task, it begins at cradle and end at grave.

One of the Muslim’s duties is to share his knowledge with others. He will be rewarded from Allah. He will be rewarded for other’s acts as well. This is one of the significant features of the Islamic caller in Islam.

If you learn you should practice it and share it with your friends. Conveying the message of Islam is of high importance. Our beloved prophet (S.A.S) expects from us to be engaged in preaching his message to all. Once prophet (S.A.S) said ‘Convey from me even if it only one verse!’

Allah has prepared lot of reward in the next world for those who convey the messages of Allah. It is established fact in Islam that one who informs the good deed to other (Islamic Caller) will share with doer in reward.

To make the concept of ‘reward’ for Islamic call clear, just imagine the difference between the employer and employee. While an employee is rewarded at the end of month for only his work, the employer (the company owner) will be rewarded at the end of the month for every employee’s works; i.e. the profit of the month is result of everyone’s hard work in the company.

As such a Muslim is rewarded from Allah for other’s acts and practices. For example, a Muslim named Abu Bakr teaches his friend Umer the importance of duha prayer and makes him pray it. Now Abu Bakr will be rewarded for Umer’s prayer. On hearing the prayer of Umar, his family members- three sons, two daughters, his father and mother follows him. Now Just upon seeing the brother performing this special prayer, his whole relatives and friends numbering about 15 persons start to perform the same prayer. Now imagine how much rewards Allah will give to that Muslim who instructed the brother to perform duha prayer!

Look at any successful company owner, he always think to make other work for him and get the profit! Then why you cant get reward from Allah by employing the same technique of company bosses?

A teacher from Primary School asks her students to write an essay about what they would like God to do for them…

At the end of the day while marking the essays, she read one that made her very emotional.

Her husband, that had just walked in saw her crying and asked her:

- What happened?

She answered – Read this. Its one of my students essays.

Oh God, tonight I ask you something very special:

Make me into a television.

I want to take its place. Live like the TV in my house. Have my own special place, and have my family around ME.

To be taken seriously when I talk….

I want to be the Center of attention and be heard without interruptions or questions.

I want to receive the same special care that the TV receives when it is not working.

Have the company of my dad when he arrives home from work, even when he is tired.

And I want my mom to want me when she is sad and upset, instead of ignoring me… and… I want my brothers to fight to be with me… I want to feel that family just leaves everything aside, every now and then, just to spend some time with me.

And last but not least make it that I can make them all happy and entertain them…

God I dont ask you for much… I just want to live like every TV.

At that moment the husband said:  – My God, poor kid. What horrible parents!

She looked up at him and said:  That essay is our son!!!

So true isnt it?

After coming back from work or school we immediately switch it ON and are glued to it for hours together.

If our mom, dad, brother or sister wants to have a word with us the expectation is only after completion of a serial or sports match isn’t it. We get doubly irritated if anyone interrupts in between our TV show.

But do we show the same dedication in reading Quran or offering Namaz/Salah.  We always tend to complete it at the earliest as if someone has tied us up with the responsibility which we are fulfilling for the sake of fulfilling it.

Lets hope Insha Allah in coming days we also are glued and are fully busy in reading Quran and also offering our Salah.

The path is shariah, tariqah and haqiqah. Listen to it carefully with examples.

Sharia is like ship and tariqah is like sea. Tariqah is as pearl in the sea.

Sharia is to stick by the religion of Allah, to obey His orders and avoid his prohibitions.

Tariqah means to follow precautions, like wara’a (to avoid lawful things in fear of getting in to unlawful things) and to make strong determination, like riyadah (to exercise the soul and body to be accustomed to do good deeds) engaging in only Allah’s thought.

Haqiqah is to reach the desired destination and to see the nur of Allah distinctively.

تَقْوَى الإلهِ مَدَارُ كُلِّ سَعَادَةٍ   وَتِبَاعُ أَهْوَى رَأْسُ شَرِّ حَبَائِلاَ

Piety or righteousness (تقوى) is the basis and foundation of all happiness. Following the self passion is basic cause of all evil traps

Piety (taqwa) is the backbone of all good deeds. Being this book Adhkiya dedicated for one who wants to be waliyy  (true believer with high rank), the author Sheikh Zainuddeen (R) categorically begins with taqwa, the highest character of a Muslim.

What is taqwa or piety? Many definitions are given to taqwa. The popular one is as follows:

امتثال أوامر الله واجتناب نواهيه ظاهرا وباطنا مع استشعار التعظيم لله والهيبة والخشية والرهبة من الله تعالى (كفاية الأتقياء ومنهاج الأصفياء صفحة 7)

To obey the orders of Allah and avoid his prohibitions both inward and outward with honour (to Allah) and fear (from Allah).

Second Khaleefa Umar (R.A) once asked Ubayy bin Ka-ab (R.A) : what is taqwa?

Ubayy: did you ever pass by a way which has thorn?

Umar: Yes

Ubayy: what did you do then?

Umar: I tried my best to care myself; I put my one leg forward and another backward, fearing any thorn will hit my leg.

Ubayy: That is taqwa!

Followings are some of the understandings from this answer:

1. One has to strive hard to maintain taqwa
2. Prohibitions are like thorns.
3. To keep up taqwa is difficult, but it can be overcome!

Quran says that way to be waliyy of Allah is to maintain taqwa. All awlia( plural of waliyy) are pious and righteous people.

إنْ أَوْلِيَاؤُهُ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (الأنفال 34)

Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know (Anfal 34)

Taqwa always contradict whims and self passions. Only by controlling self whims one can win satisfaction of Allah and maintain taqwa. Sheikh compared the man following the whim with being fish trapped. Usually prey get attracted to trap easily, as such a person get attracted to the passion easily, there is no way out if one trapped!

Prophet (S.A) says:

إن أخوف ما أخاف على أمتي اتباع الهوى وطول الأمل – الرسالة القشيرية

‘The most feared thing that I fear on my people is the following self whim and lengthy hope.’

Because whims prevents from doing good deeds and lengthy hope make man forget the life after death.

Ayodhya once again became the hot issue after Allahabad Court verdict on 30.09.2010. According to court, the disputed land divided in to three parts, two for Hindus and one for Muslims and the location of the mosque belongs to Hindus. This ruling triggered nation wide criticism, especially from Muslims.

One of the veteran political leader said regarding this verdict: ”The verdict for a three way division of the land is, however, based on faith and belief. This aspect of the set of judgments is disturbing as it accords primacy to religious belief and faith over and above the facts and the record of evidence. It will set a dangerous precedent for the future. When the matter goes to the Supreme Court on appeal, it is to be hoped that this issue will be addressed.”

In short we may find following remarks in general:

• Court tried to bring peace and reconciliation at the rate of constitutional democracy and rule of law.
• Court invoked faith of religion and ignored the historical and archeological fact.
• Triggered criticism from legal experts and litigants want to challenge it in supreme court
• Later on, this judgment may be used as precedent for other disputes, based upon invoking faith.
• It leads to feel that faith of a majority play greater role in court judgments.
• If faith is important to community, law is equally important to constitution.
• Hindus are subscribed to different faith (for example Aryans and Dravidians), therefore invoking faith is still questionable.
• Celebrating victory faith over law is dangerous development in a secular nation like India.
• People of India kept in self control and stood for peace after the verdict.
