Ramadan: Teachings of Badr Battle
Badr is the place where the battle between pagans of Mecca and Muslims occurred, Muslims with the leadership of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.S) and pagans with the leadership to Abu Jahl. The name Badr owed to a well located there. The battle was in the second year of Hijra, 17th of Ramadan month. The prophet and Sahaba marched out to Badr from Madeena on eight of Ramadan.
The battle was the sweeping victory to the Muslims and shameful escape to Pagans. Why Muslims gain victory?
1. Strong Belief in Allah:
If we compare both parties engaged in war, it is apparent that strength of Muslims was very low. They were few in number of manpower, camel, horse and other equipments. But, spiritually they were as strong as mountains.
Their strong belief in Allah assured the victory.
“And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful”
Muslims obeyed the prophet for ten years in Macca. When they migrated to Madeena, they fount obstacles in new land as well. But they kept silent and assured in Allah. َQuran Says:
(Remember) when you said to the believers, “Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down?
3. Allah’s Aid
Allah is great; all the actions of the creature are controlled by Allah. There would be no move of a leaf without permission from Allah. But Allah some times gives more help to those people who are pious and religious. This is observed in the battle of Badr very well. Muslims get refreshed after they fell sleepiness, the Angels come down to fight for the Muslim part, the battle ground became firm, Allah announced that He well be with Muslims soldier in every moment, Allah put terror in the heart of enemies.
One of the basic techniques of a leader in a war is to adopt new tactics to gain the victory. The prophet (S.A.S) was the able leader who can predict the upcoming events with far sighted. We can see many examples that show the potential war technique of the prophet. The prophet divided his troops into three parts: namely frond, side and rear, sent patrols to monitor the proceedings of enemy and report to the Muslims, selected leader from each sect; Maccans and Medients.
5. The satisfaction in the decree of Allah
Muslims were not sure they will come back safely. After they discovered that they are going to fight a big enemy who reached Badr with equipped war instruments, they didn’t withdraw from the battle. Rather they put results on Allah’s will and obeyed the command of prophet.
“No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things”
6. Consulting the people of piety
Prophet (S.A) consulted his followers in every movement of war. When prophet (S.A) stopped at well Badr, one of the followers Hubab bin Mundir submitted a proposal to get water from the well of enemy and collect it in a tank . So Muslims have water and enemy don’t have. On hearing this openion, prophet accepted it and did what he viewd. Consulting the people of knowledge is not a disgrace. You can consult and take openinon of comman man even you are a unquestionable leader
